Accordium: a compliance operating system for food-regulated industries.

A full-stack compliance platform covering daily checklists, IoT cold-chain monitoring, Voice Note transcription and multi-site reporting, built to satisfy R638, HACCP, ISO 22000 and five other regulatory frameworks.

The problem

Food businesses were managing compliance on paper, clipboards and spreadsheets. Under R638 and HACCP, every site needs daily temperature logs, completed checklists, health and safety meeting records and supplier documentation, every day.

For multi-site operations (wholesale distributors, agricultural processors, hospitality groups) it scaled badly. Head office had no real-time view of which sites were compliant, which checks had been missed, or where the cold chain had been broken.

Sensor to compliance record. No Wi-Fi required.

The hardware was the hardest engineering problem. Shops and kitchens have notoriously unreliable Wi-Fi, so I designed a radio layer that runs entirely independently of the store network: sensors talk to an in-store hub over LoRa, and the hub forwards data to the cloud over its own uplink.

What the platform does

Built around the frameworks auditors use

The data model and reporting layer follow the specific evidence requirements of each framework, for operations in wholesale and distribution, agriculture, mining, and hospitality.

My role: hardware to SaaS

I designed and built the complete platform: firmware on the ESP32 sensor nodes, the LoRa radio layer, the Raspberry Pi hub software, the Next.js / FastAPI cloud application, and the compliance reporting and export pipeline. End-to-end product engineering across hardware and software.

The same sensor-to-dashboard pattern applies to any regulated operation with physical assets to monitor: healthcare facilities, pharmaceutical cold chain, export food processing, industrial safety and facilities management.

How I approach automation

Building something that needs to comply?

Tell me about your regulatory environment and what you’re trying to monitor, and we’ll talk honestly about whether this model fits.
